HAH – Day 2

Posted: February 16, 2026 in Uncategorized

Not a bad nights sleep considering yesterday afternoon shenanigans 🥸 Definitely a bit harder going to sleep with sun up which also means waking up to dark skies. Should be able to start wandering aimlessly around 6 am without fear of molestation. Not a noisy hotel as such but you always have assholes who come home at midnight, talk in corridors and slam doors . Not sure if there are water running issues in buildings or just a lot of guys with small prostates and big bladders 🤔 This morning then focuses around MONA visit. A museum, a funny name …..gotta be a joke there somewhere. Kicks off at 9 am so a couple of hours to fill in first . Can’t see any sun soon but am reliably informed the weather will be great today again. Will try and space out the liver attacks a bit better today but no promises

Well what a stunning morning and a great location. Ok had to wake reception up to actually let me out of place at 5:50 am. Burning moonlight here son, lift ya game

Research had suggested coffee places didn’t much open until 7 am – or as we call it, Morning Tea time. A couple of exceptions within 10 min walk with best option being Little Amsterdam. I tell ya, I barred up when he opened on time at 6:15 am.

Time then to look for a sunrise so headed to the waterfront and was suitably rewarded. Battery Point really is a stunning area

Back then towards Sal and Mannys place for some breakfast. First up though checked out the historical film location much like The Exorcist Steps in Washington. These are Kellys Steps where Kelly Ann Conway was pushed down for the film The Exorcist 4 – Horror in Ho Ho BART. Second highest gross film ever after Melania .

It’s a lovely area to walk around especially at 7 am. Seems to be a lot of tourists around heading off on cruises or bus trips as seems to be the focal point for all that palava. Me, I just need some breakfast and Harbour Lights looks perfect to sit and watch the cars go by as inhale some fumes with your scrambled eggs.

Back then to Lenna to get ready for Ferry to Mona in an hour. Yeah, still got nothing……on my return though the mystery of the furnace that was my room yesterday afternoon on arrival was solved. That sun is a shining

Fair line up for 9:15 ferry and I may still be the youngest 🤔 As Old Whiskers intended do get preferential treatment for a price and maybe 25 people for the Posh Pit. Not crowded but does slow the service a tad…..

As expected MONA is quite unique if not only for the 99 steps you have to climb to confirm you are prepared to be bored for 4 hrs straight. It’s quite a stunning place of course and I could easily fill in 20-30 mins easily so did .

Despite the vast attack on my visual senses I still felt something was lacking. A Void if you like ……hey look . Spooky.

In a fact that will surprise no one least of all CLP I was done early so switched to an earlier ferry and had Posh Pit to myself . The best part was the staff thought they would be empty too. HAH. Only had one beer this time as wanted to sit on front deck on a truly glorious day

When they poured me off the front deck it was amazing to see so many people/suckers lined up for next trip including I would suggest bout 40 people for Posh Pit which would be a bit crowded. Picked up some Sushi for lunch and now the issue is to plan something for this afternoon on such a stunning day.

The Battery Point Sculpture Trail seemed like a good idea on a glorious day. Started off fine but got a bit duller the further it weaved round the Derwent. So …..wait for it ….Der (I) Went home. Here all week, avoid the trail. It was hot and hilly as well

Time then to head out for some refreshments on such a nice day. First up was The Den for a Negroni. Classy place

That got the ball rolling . Maybe time for some spiritual guidance . Just pray the beer is cold – it is hilly and hot. Must be getting a bit tipsy as sat in bus for 20 mins waiting for it to leave

Back to my old fave The Waterfront for a stroll in the sun. On flat surfaces . Mama didnt raise no fool . Maybe an alcoholic 🤔

Well it was almost approaching 5 pm local time so could do with some food but don’t really need any more alcohol. What a dilemma. The Brickworks looked good with a Parmi for $29 . Probably won’t finish it but will fill that void again. Lordy Lordy. First up the barman asked would you like the Parmi Special for $25 which comes with a free pint of Cascade. Hey, I’ve had a couple but ain’t paralytic. – load me up Chauncey. How they fit it on one plate remains one of life’s mystery. For those keeping score I did not finish it or the beer but it did the job. Of hastening my demise that is .

Well that’s the first full day locked away but oddly second day of being full. With only 6 hrs sunlight left best get home and indoors before the Tasmanian Devils start roaming free.
