Good nights sleep, all things considered, in a good room. It is useful when TVs have in room casting available in this day and age Rain still predicted today but shouldn’t affect too much flight wise and flying into nice weather in Hobart today. Shuttle left a little early and not even half full- Knobber Knobber. Then we made a stop at The Pullman at The Airport. Stone. Throw . Anyhoo of the 12 people who now got on 8 had walking canes I shit you not. Took 10 mins to load for the 2 min drive. Well 3 mins cause they stopped at bloody Virgin terminal , 500 m from Qantas ! Easy check in of course with premium entry and certainly quiet in lounge at present . It was a Festivus of Fokkers on display.

Of interest they just boarded the “Mystery Flight “ today …….to Antartica ! Now if truly a mystery then you are in for a surprise and an odd choice from Brisvegas I would have thought . Boarding was due at 9:45 so at 9:25 went for last piddle stop. Came back at 0930 and had missed my priority boarding as boarded early for some reason ! We then sat in our seats for 20 mins before take off. It was pretty ordinary for business class must say – seat falling apart, no wi fi, no in flight entertainment. Slow to start service but after that I hooked in. I am an equal opportunity alcoholic

It was great to be in a window seat for a change . Cloud formations are simply amazing at 30,000 feet. We arrived 15 mins early but Hobart appears to be third world as took 30 mins for bags to come out 😡

Was amused by the “ gantry” brought out to deplane. For some reason had images of unloading The Ark.

Got sucked in with the old Taxi Shim Sham. Never seen a meter tick over so fast . $70 later – and about 15 mins- arrived at Lenna. Had asked for a high floor and very happy with Room 49 as only Penthouse level above

It is a lovely historic hotel but accomodation is in the more modern wing. Still very charming. Time then to hit The Waterfront and see if “ I could have been a contender” for alcoholic of the day. I gave it a fair shake folks . Exhibits A-Z to follow. It was certainly a glorious afternoon.

First up the was a rooftop bar beckoning at The Telegraph. It was tres warm in the sun but I do these things for the fans. Josh was about to have the highlight of his life

Just wandering around the waterfront and saw The Story nearby – one of my go to pubs- so dropped in for a cocktail for a change which was fine but service was crap. Great views though

As if by luck stumbled out and cross the road Hobart Brewing Co beckoned. The sun was still warm but very pleasant out in beer garden with “ the locals”

By now The Wobbly Boot was firmly attached. Time to throw out the Anchor and Hope for some food. Oldest Pub eh. Very nice dinner but do have to adjust to this DST as still bright sun at 6 pm.

Well and truly time to stumble home now even if feels like 3 pm. Could be drawing curtains and hitting the sack soon. Tomorrow is Ferry to MONA and weather should be great again to be out on the water .
